Custom Rubber Washers Manufacturer | Die Cut, Lathe Cut & Molded
Precision Manufacturing, Not Just Distribution When sourcing industrial seals, one size rarely fits all. At RiseUp Rubber, we specialize in manufacturing custom rubber washerstailored to your exact dimensions and environmental requirements. Unlike distributors who force you to choose from a catalog, we produce customized washers using three distinct manufacturing technologies to optimize your cost and performance.
Three Ways:
We Manufacture Your Custom Washer To ensure you get the best price-per-part, we select the method that fits your volume and tolerance needs:
• 1. High-Speed Die Cutting (Stamping):
• Best For: High volume, thin flat washers (under 3mm thick).
• Advantage: Lowest unit cost. We punch custom washers from continuous rubber sheets (NBR, EPDM, Silicone) with incredible speed.
• 2. Precision Lathe Cutting:
• Best For: Thick washers, sleeves, and tight tolerances.
• Advantage: No tooling costs. We cut directly from a cured rubber tube. This is ideal when you need a custom washer with a precise square edge and smooth finish.
• 3. Compression Molding:
• Best For: 3D shapes, beveled edges, or heavy-duty seals.
• Advantage: Allows for complex cross-sections beyond simple flat rings.
High-Pressure Solutions: Bonded Washers & Sealing Technology
Standard flat washers are ideal for cushioning and low-pressure sealing. However, for hydraulic systems or critical fluid containment, plain rubber may “squeeze out” under torque. RiseUp Rubber offers advanced washers with rubber seal designs (often referred to as Bonded Seals or Dowty Washers) that combine the structural strength of metal with the sealing power of elastomer.
1. Bonded Seals (Metal + Rubber) These components feature a trapezoidal rubber lip vulcanized directly to a metal ring (Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, or Brass). The metal retainer limits compression, preventing the rubber from bursting under high pressure. This makes them the superior sealing washers rubber choice for hydraulic fittings, fuel systems, and oil drain plugs.
2. Custom Profile Sealing If off-the-shelf bonded seals do not fit your housing, we can engineer a custom rubber seal profile. Whether you need a specific durometer for a self-sealing screw or a unique shape for an enclosure, our team can bond the rubber gasket to your specific metal hardware during the molding process.
Rubber Washer Size Chart & Measurement Guide
Unlike rigid metal hardware, rubber creates a seal through compression and deformation. Therefore, specifying the correct dimensions and tolerances is critical for a leak-free assembly. Below is our guide on how to measure and select the right fit.
1. Key Dimensions (How to Measure) When requesting a quote, please specify the following three dimensions (in Millimeters or Inches):
• I.D. (Inside Diameter): The hole size. Tip: For a tight seal on a bolt, the rubber I.D. should be slightly smaller than the bolt diameter (Interference Fit).
• O.D. (Outside Diameter): The total width of the washer.
• Thickness: The height of the cross-section.
2. Standard RMA Tolerances Rubber cannot be machined to the same tight tolerances as metal due to its elasticity. At RiseUp Rubber, we follow the RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) standards.
• A2 Precision Class: For critical sealing applications (e.g., ±0.20mm).
• A3 Commercial Class: For general spacing and cushioning (Lower cost).
3. Standard vs. Custom Sizes While we do manufacture standard sizes (M3, M4, M6, etc.), our strength lies in customization. You don’t need to limit your design to a fixed catalog. Refer to the simplified rubber washer size chart below for common bolt compatibilities, but remember: we can cut any O.D. and I.D. combination you need.
| Bolt Size | Recommended Rubber I.D. (mm) | Recommended O.D. Range (mm) |
| M3 | 2.8 – 3.0 | 6.0 – 10.0 |
| M6 | 5.7 – 6.0 | 10.0 – 18.0 |
| M10 | 9.7 – 10.0 | 18.0 – 30.0 |

Material Selection for Custom Rubber Washers
Choosing the right compound is just as important as the dimensions. A perfect fit means nothing if the material dissolves in oil or cracks under UV light. We stock over 20 grades of rubber sheeting and tubing, ready to be converted into custom washers instantly.
Common Material Options:
• EPDM (Weather Resistant):
• Best For: Outdoor applications, HVAC systems, and water sealing. It resists sunlight, ozone, and aging better than any other standard rubber.
• Nitrile / Buna-N (Oil Resistant):
• Best For: Automotive engines, fuel systems, and machinery. This is the go-to material for sealing washers rubber exposed to petroleum oils and greases.
• Silicone (High Temp & FDA):
• Best For: Food processing, medical devices, and high-heat environments (up to 200°C/400°F). It offers excellent flexibility but is not recommended for dynamic abrasion.
• Neoprene (General Purpose):
• Best For: Applications requiring a balance of oil resistance and weather resistance. Common in construction and marine vibration dampening.
Need Special Properties? We also manufacture custom washers from Viton® (FKM) for extreme chemicals, SBR for abrasion resistance, and Conductive Rubber for EMI shielding.
