NEVER use Vaseline or hydrocarbon greases! Petroleum will cause EPDM to swell up to 200% and fail. You must strictly use Silicone Grease, Castor oil, or soap and water.
EPDM is highly elastic, but over-stretching during assembly causes microscopic tears. As a rule of thumb, do not stretch an EPDM O-ring more than 50% of its inner diameter during installation, and ensure it immediately returns to its resting state.
Bare EPDM has a high friction coefficient. For high-speed assembly, we apply a PTFE (Teflon) surface coating or a microscopic MoS2 treatment, making the O-rings slick and assembly-ready without altering their chemical properties.
